Eastern Sicily: Siracusa
The eastern part, the so-called Ionian Coast of the island, is a triumph of natural and historic beauties. Not just postcard beaches and turquoise water, then, but also a whole load of amazing itineraries to be discovered, like the ones leading to Mount Etna, or the famous ‘Gole dell’Alcantara’ Gorges, a canyon of basalt rock home to the Alcantara River. Staying in Siracusa might provide the ideal base, as you can then discover the Coast and its many recreational activities. For days of relaxation, then, it’s worth visiting the extremely long Fontane Bianche beach, perfect for children with its shallow waters and fully-equipped resorts, offering all mod cons. The Northern Coast
The northern part of the island is, of course, no less beautiful. The Western Coast

Try an excursion to the Aegadian Islands, with the splendid towns of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo, which can even be experienced in a single day, with special boat tours leaving from Trapani. In Agrigento, then, we have the much-admired Valle dei Templi, an archaeological park which allows you to go back in history by more than two thousand years: a not-to-be-missed experience, even alongside the kids.
