To get to Sardinia, you have several options at your disposal. The fastest means is definitely the plane with 3 airports available, Cagliari-Elmas, Olbia-Costa Smeralda and Alghero-Fertilia. The island can also be reached by ferry from Genoa, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Naples or other Italian coastal cities. Ferries mainly arrive in Olbia, Porto Torres or Cagliari.
Sardinia is a true paradise for lovers of nature and scenic beauty but especially for its wonderful beaches. There are many things to see in Sardinia, certainly among the must-see places is the Maddalena archipelago. This group of islands, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, offers breathtaking landscapes, hidden beaches and crystal clear waters. The Pink Beach on the island of Budelli is a real gem, thanks to its coral pink sand. Absolutely not to be missed are Cala Brandinchi, Cala Tuerredda, La Pelosa, Cala Goloritzé, and Cala Mariolu.
A vacation in Sardinia allows you to visit wonderful nature parks such as the Molentargius Regional Nature Park where you can see pink flamingos living in the salt pans. Sardinian cuisine is a veritable culinary treasure trove that satisfies even the most discerning palates. Here are some typical Sardinian dishes you absolutely must try. Who does not know the famous Pane Carasau or Guttiau characterized by thin and crispy sheets perfect to accompany cold cuts and cheeses such as the famous Pecorino Sardo. Not to be missed as a first course is Fregola con Arselle, a Sardinian pasta similar to couscous often paired with arselle (clams) and Malloreddus alla Campidanese that is pasta in the shape of gnocchetti is seasoned with a rich sauce made with sausage, tomato and saffron. The Sardinian piglet, known as Porceddu, is the quintessential representation of this country. For those with a sweet tooth, they can try Pardulas flavored with ricotta and flavored with lemon and honey or the famous Seadas, fried tortelli filled with pecorino cheese and garnished with chestnut honey, and finally the very famous myrtle liqueur made by macerating myrtle berries in alcohol.
Sardinia is a place rich in traditions, and there are many souvenirs you can take home to remember your vacation. Cork items are among the most typical. You can find very original corks, cork stoppers, trays, cutting boards, and baskets. In addition to cork objects, wood-carved masks also represent the island's traditions.
