In VOIhotels, the commitment to sustainability in tourism is very strong and manifested through concrete actions. After recently announcing our commitment to sustainability, through the abolition of single-use plastics in our hotels, we are proceeding with another initiative, aimed at reducing waste: a certification process for our energy consumption and behavior called GSTC . The Global Sustainable Tourism Council is an organization established in 2007 to promote sustainability and social responsibility in the world of tourism. The GSTC certification is the only internationally recognized certification that guarantees compliance with social, economic and environmental requirements in order to demonstrate the sustainability of any tourist activity or the overall management of a destination.

GSTC certifications obtained
With the help of Studio Pareto, consulting company, we have already achieved GSTC certification for our facilities in Sicily, Apulia, Calabria and Sardinia.
A reality accessible to all
For us, sustainable tourism is also “surmountable” for this reason we are committed to making our resorts accessible to guests with motor and sensory disabilities in order to improve the quality of their stay. All the structures that obtain the GSTC certificate, therefore, have access for the disabled and facilities to make any type of stay barrier-free. Furthermore, the VOI Floriana Resort, the VOI Baia di Tindari Resort, the VOI Daniela Essentia, and the VOI Tanka Village have been reviewed by the Onlus Handy Superabile and included in the list of resorts without architectural barriers and therefore suitable for guests with disabilities.

Next steps

Certification of structures abroad
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond borders, pledging to protect not only our paradise but also those overseas that we care about immensely. Our resorts located overseas will also undergo the same assessment. Next on the list are VOI Andilana Resort and VOI Amarina Resort in Madagascar, VOI Kiwengwa Resort in Zanzibar and VOI Vila Do Farol in Cape Verde
